Following the uplifting energy of our #CorroPelaMaria run, the momentum of support and compassion continued into the evening of the next day with the second edition of the solidarity concert “Por uma estrela que também brilha durante o dia.” What unfolded was far more than a musical gathering - it was a celebration of community, empathy, and shared determination to advance research on Rett Syndrome.

Hosted in an atmosphere filled with warmth and heartfelt connection, the concert brought together families, friends, supporters, and many who have been touched by Maria’s story. Through music and collective generosity, the event created a powerful sense of unity, reminding everyone present of the profound impact that compassion-driven science can have.

Sónia Rochette, Maria’s mother, captured the spirit of the evening beautifully in her message of gratitude, reflecting on moments “cheia de amor, união e uma solidariedade que nos abraçou de verdade” - moments so meaningful they will be remembered for years to come.

The concert raised €5,655.00, which - combined with the contributions from the #CorroPelaMaria run - brings the total amount collected for Rett Syndrome research to an extraordinary €7,980.00. This generosity will directly support ongoing work at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon, strengthening our mission to better understand and address this condition.

We are deeply grateful to Sónia, to Maria, and to every family affected by Rett Syndrome who continuously inspire our work. Events like this remind us why research matters - because behind every project, every experiment, and every new discovery, there are real lives, real stories, and real hopes.
